Bybit API Error Reference

An operational map of common Bybit V5 API errors: what the code means and what the bot should do about it, not just what to print in the log.

Code	Meaning	What the bot should do
`10001`	Parameter error	Validate field names and types before sending.
`10002`	Request time exceeds recv_window	Sync the clock; keep offset well under the window.
`10003`	Invalid API key	Key revoked, wrong environment, or testnet key on mainnet.
`10004`	Invalid signature	Check the signing string order and the secret used.
`10005`	Permission denied	The API key lacks the required permission scope.
`10006`	Too many visits	Rate limited. Back off with jitter; do not retry in a tight loop.
`10016`	Service error	Venue-side. Retry idempotently; never blind-resend an order.
`10018`	IP not allowlisted	Update the API key IP list after a server move.
`110001`	Order does not exist	Already filled or cancelled — reconcile local state.
`110003`	Order price out of range	Respect tick size and the price band.
`110004`	Insufficient wallet balance	Shrink the size and re-quote; margin is reserved with fees.
`110007`	Insufficient available balance	Funds locked by other orders. Free them or reduce size.
`110012`	Insufficient available balance	Same cause on a different endpoint — handle both.
`110017`	Reduce-only rule violated	No position to reduce, or the size exceeds it.
`110025`	Position mode not modified	Align hedge and one-way mode before sending orders.
`110043`	Leverage not modified	Already at that leverage — treat as success, not failure.
`110045`	Position size exceeded risk limit	Raise the venue risk limit tier or lower the size.
`170131`	Insufficient balance for spot	Spot balances are separate from derivatives.
`170137`	Order quantity invalid	Round to qtyStep and respect minOrderQty and minNotionalValue.
`170210`	Too many open orders	Cancel stale orders before placing new ones.

Codes change — always verify against Bybit's current API documentation. Correct error handling is what separates a bot that survives the night from a script that does not.
